The inaugural poker run sponsored by UPS, the United Way, and the American Legion Riders from post 272, was held on October 15th, 2016. The weather was perfect and the riders were treated to a great run that consisted of approximately 90 miles stretching from the scenic Susquehanna River, through the beautiful blue mountains, to the village of Tower City. Stops along the way included biker friendly establishments such as Marysville's Waterfront Bar & Grill, the Carsonville Inn, the Tower City American Legion, and Mooses LZ, before finishing at Susquehanna Harley Davidson where free food and live entertainment from Vertigo Vibe was enjoyed. Proceeds from the event brought in $1,107.00 and will benefit the United Way and veteran service organizations, including Veteran Service Canines and the SPC Zachary R. Clouser Foundation. Next year's ride is scheduled for October 14th, 2017..
Riders from Post 272 joined seven other Legions in the annual Flag Retirement Ceremony in Tower City. Approximately 20,000 flags that are tattered are respectfully destroyed curing a ceremony that featured speakers, patriotic songs, and salutes. The Tower City flag retirement is billed as the largest of its kind in the nation.
Several Riders from Post 272 rode in the Harrisburg Christmas Parade on November 19th. Riders from throughout Region 7 lead the parade by motorcycling through the streets of Harrisburg and handling out toys to children along the route.
Several Riders participated in the Pennsylvania State Police Soldiers of the Memorial Law Motorcycle Ride on April 29th, to honor fallen officers killed in the line of duty.
